STEM CELL RESEARCH COLLABORATION WITH KAVERI MEDICAL CENTRE, TRICHY

Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) signed the MoU for starting Stem Cell Research and Immuno Therapy for Cancer with Kaveri Medical Centre, Trichy.

The inauguration preceded by scientific session in which Dr. Sankaranarayanan spoke about basic of Stem Cell. Dr. Samuel Abraham presented an overview on Stem Cell Research & Clinical Application all over the world and the achievements of NCRM. Dr. Jos Jasper presented the data of their clinical studies in Liver Cirrhosis,Spinal Cord Injury and Oral Sub-Mucosal Fibrosis.

The MoU signing ceremony presided by Dr. Ponnavaikko, Vice Chancellor-Bharathidasan University, who insisted that the ethical issues should be adhered to and opted for a tripartite collaboration between NCRM-Kaveri Medical Centre and Bharathidasan University on Stem Cells.

The chief guest of the function Hon'ble Mr. Kazuo Minagawa, Consul General of Japan congratulated the Institutes and expressed his happiness about the Indo-Japan relationship in health care. He also lauded the culture and environment of the Trichy Tanjore area, which has a very good potential for producing genius quoting the book title "The Dignity of a Nation (Kokka No Hinkaku)" by Masahiko Fujiwara, a famous Japanese writer who had in this book appreciated the environment, culture and pious nature of the people in this region.

The seahorse hospital recently acquired by Kaveri Medical Centre will have the Stem Cell Research Centre and the Immuno Therapy for Cancer will be given there, said Dr. Chandra Mohan, Managing Director, Kaveri Medical Centre.

Director of National Institute of Technology, Trichy (NIT-T) M. Chidambaram, Chairman of J.J. College of Engineering and Technology P. Selvaraj, State president-elect Indian Medical Association, State Branch, R. Gunasekaran, offered felicitations. Managing Director of KMCH S. Chandrakumar and Medical Director T. Senthilkumar spoke.

Dr. S. Manivannan, Executive Director gave vote of thanks.
