Tanuvas looks to stem cells for curing diseases
Chennai: A core-group of doctors, veterinarians and scientists will soon begin research to find ways to treat terminal ailments like cancer and lifestyle diseases like heart disease and obesity with stem cells.
In the project, which is an initiative of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas), the research group will explore the possibility of treating diseases and disorders in animals and humans that are difficult to manage with current medical and surgical intervention.
“The main aim of the group will be to find ways to restore the functions of affected organs and tissues in animals and humans through regeneration, by creating biological tissues and organs,” said Tanuvas vice-chancellor R Prabhakaran. TNN
