Japanese water processing and air conditioning systems – Proposing an academia-industry partnership in Chennai

LICET (Loyola College, Chennai) and NCRM to be Indian partners in the initiative

8th February 2018, Chennai: An academia- industry partnership to set up novel anti-oxidant water processing systems and high efficient ventilated air-conditioning systems in the LICET campus inside the Loyola college  has been proposed in the  Inter-Disciplinary Seminar; Engineering Systems and Healthcare Solutions  held at the Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering Technology (LICET) inside the Loyola Campus in Chennai, India which was organized by Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering Technology (LICET) and Edogawa Evolutionary Laboratory of Sciences (EELS), Japan  in the aim of developing an inter-disciplinary research to bring forth solutions in healthcare and domestic utilities.

The seminar had talk by Mr. Kazuyoshi Soma, CEO, SEO Corporation, Japan on Novel Air-Handling Systems for Cleanrooms and Operation theatres and talk by Mr. Yozo Koga, Director, International Division Nihon Trim Co. Ltd., Japan on the Anti-oxidant water technology. Mr. B. Venkatasubramanyam, Technical Advisor, NCRM elaborated on the details of the technologies and how they could bring a win-win association among all the stake holders.

Collaborative initiatives planned include employing the engineering students and faculty of LICET as co-investigators for the project on comparative analysis of the existing systems and the novel ventilation air handling systems from Japan, developing anti-oxidant water servers combining the technological expertise of the Japanese scientists and the students of Loyola, proposal for setting up a bottling plant for the Anti-oxidant water for Loyola In-campus use and association with the relevant institutes within the Loyola campus for Business Management and Technology propagation in view of increasing the entrepreneurship of the students of Loyola as a whole.

In the near future NCRM, LICET and EELS are planning to set up an Inter-disciplinary research consortium among the institutes of Loyola and Japanese organizations to start research on the lines mentioned during the seminar. Rev Dr Alphonse Manickam SJ (Director, LICET, India) and Prof. Dr. Jose Swaminathan (Principal, LICET, India) participated in the Seminar.
