NCRM opens office in Tokyo, Japan

New office for exclusive liaison of Regenerative medicine
Medical tourism & IP issues to be given more importance

Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), an Indo-Japan joint venture institute based at Chennai has opened a new office in Tokyo*, Japan on 07th January 2008. This office will be headed by Mr. Morozumi Yoshio and will function as a liaison office for (i) Promoting medical tourism in India by tapping the Japanese market, (ii) Liaison among the Japanese collaborators better and to develop more collaborations with Japanese institutes and industry and (iii) Intellectual property related issues on various Indo-Japan research work performed by NCRM.

Stem cells are the major tools of the Regenerative Medicine ? an evolving medical specialty has been giving lot of hope to patients with several diseases with no treatment option on date. NCRM, an Indo Japan organization working on stem cells with several breakthrough developments, is opening up this office exclusively for stem cell related activity. Since the medical costs are higher in Japan than India, the new technology available through the NCRM-Japanese connections in India which are cost effective when compared to Japanese hospitals are expected to attract Japanese patients for stem cell based treatments in India, which will be coordinated by this Tokyo office. This office will also promote more technology based collaborations between Japanese institutes and industry as well as other multinational organizations in biotechnology that have presence in Tokyo.

The Ireland based Research and Markets Inc., (www.researchandmarkets.com) has recently listed Nichi-In as one among the 107 organizations all over the world with great potentials for a breakthrough in regenerative medicine by 2010 in their global strategic analysis report on Regenerative medicine.

NCRM is a unit of Nichi-In Bio Sciences Pvt Ltd and has been researching on stem cells in several specialties of medicine viz., Ophthalmology, Hepatology, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Dentistry, Oncology etc., with technological advantage from Japanese institutes and has several firsts to its credit in clinical studies using stem cells for Spinal cord injury and Liver Cirrhosis. Its also the first institute in India to have brought to the country the Autologous Immune Enhancement Therapy (AIET) for cancer in which patients own Natural Killer cells and T-Lymphocytes are used to curb cancer cells.
