The Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (TPRM), affiliated with the University of Toronto, University of Ottawa, McMaster University and Queen's University in Canada, has started accepting applications from interested scholars who wish to enroll in the 9th batch of the TPRM to start in September 2016 at NCRM, Chennai, India.
Regenerative Medicine, a dynamically evolving field needs constant upgradation which in turn requires continuous interactions between basic and translational sciences. The TPRM provides such a platform for basic scientists and clinicians through web-based training. Taking place at the Chennai based NCRM; lectures are transmitted via webcast from the University of Toronto campus in Canada under the Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (TPRM).
The TPRM is a strategic training program established in 2002 to develop and implement an educational curriculum in the innovative science of regenerative medicine, which will provide research trainees with the knowledge and skills to compete globally in both academia and industry.
NCRM is an Indo-Japanese academic institute and the only partner from India chosen to be a part of TPRM which is based on their academic & research credentials especially the affiliation for a PhD in Regenerative Medicine with Acharya Nagarjuna University and the affiliation for M.Sc (Regenerative Medicine) Program with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in India.
The TPRM partnership began in 2008 by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed between Dr. Samuel JK Abraham (NCRM) and Dr. Gary Levy (University of Toronto). NCRM is the first and the only institute in the country to offer this international level comprehensive training in regenerative medicine based on this year's MoU signed between Dr. Samuel JK Abraham (Director, NCRM) and Dr. Atul Humar (Director, TPRM & University of Toronto Transplantation Institute).
The previous eight batches had a maximum of 10 scholars in each batch with equal participation from basic science researchers and clinicians, who upon completion have started several research projects and collaborations.
This program has a series of approximately 30-40 lectures covering cutting-edge science and technologies at the interface of molecular therapy, stem cell technology, tissue engineering and innovative biomaterials along with ethics, clinical & outcomes research and economics related to these emerging technologies. Enrollment is open until August 19th, 2016 for students, scholars of PhD and faculty of biology, biotechnology, medicine, veterinary sciences, and dentistry.
Participants upon successful completion and obtaining adequate credits in the exams conducted will receive a certificate from the TPRM, Canada. Students who wish to apply must be fluent in English and ensure 100% attendance in person at NCRM campus, Chennai.
