First Annual Symposium on Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine by NCRM.

Oct 2006, Chennai; Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM), Chennai, an Indo Japan joint venture institute accomplishing training, research and clinical application-protocol development in cell therapeutics with emphasis on stem cells is organizing the First Annual Symposium on Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine on Tuesday the 17th October 2006 at Chennai (Hotel Savera; 17:00 ~ 19:00 Hrs). Stem cells and Regenerative Medicine is no more something you hear from the East or West; but its close to your doorsteps at Chennai; as NCRM centered work on stem cells will be presented by experts from within the country and abroad.

In the the symposium whatever NCRM has done jointly with several Indian hospitals will be presented by eminent speakers and will be chaired by Dr. Vasantha Muthuswamy, (Senior Deputy Director General , Chief, Division of Bioethics, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi.) Dr. S.S.K.Marthandam, Vice Chancellor, & HOD, Dept of Orthopedics, Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Deemed University, Chennai & Dr. P. Rajendran, Dean (Industrial Consultancy), Head, Dept of Microbiology, Dr ALM PG Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chennai.

Speakers: 1. Dr. Sharat Damodar, Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore (Autologous Immune Enhancement Therapy for cancer; Our experience), 2. Dr. S.R. Subrammnaynan, Vijaya Hospitals, Chennai, (Stem cells for ischemic ulcers in diabetic patients; Our experience),3. Dr. G. Dedeepiya Devaprasad, NCRM, Chennai. (Hepatocyte progenitors to treat acute liver failure).

The symposium will be followed by the anniversary function (19:00 ~ 20:00 Hrs) in which the Consul General of Japan at Chennai H.E Mr. Yoshiaki Kodaki and Vice-president of Yamanashi University-School of Medicine, Prof. Shigeo Tsukahara will participate.
