NCRM to host the XII Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ) in Tokyo Japan

Nobel Laureate Prof. Masatoshi Koshiba to grace the International Stem Cell Meet, NCRM NICHE 2017

Chennai, 15th May 2017: : NCRM - Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine (NCRM) - a pioneering Indo-Japan joint venture institute for research and translational work in Regenerative Medicine has announced the hosting of the XII Anniversary Commemorative Stem Cell meeting, the NCRM NICHE 2017 to be held this year in Tokyo, Japan.

The Fujio Cup Quiz (FCQ), an integral part of NCRM NICHE 2017 comprises of two rounds - Preliminary, to be held online and finals to be held in Tokyo, Japan. In the scholars and students who are selected through a two-step online preliminary quiz, top scoring six teams will be given travel with return fare to Tokyo along with accommodation reimbursement and registration fee waiver. The subsequent teams will be given registration fee waivers and other perks at the expense of the Organizer (Terms and Conditions apply).

FCQ is open to St udents & Scholars of Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Sciences & Life Sciences from all over the world.  Interested candidates can register for the quiz by logging into www.ncrmniche.org .

The exclusive quiz on Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine which has been conducted every year since 2006 for the prestigious Fujio Cup trophy, this year, for the 12th time the event will be hosted on the 22nd October, 2017 in the National Centre for Global health and Medicine (NCGM), Tokyo, Japan ( www.ncgm.go.jp) in academic partnership with Dept. of RM, NCGM, Tokyo, Japan; Dept. of Apl. Chem., Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan; German Society for Stem Cell Research (GSZ), Cologne, Germany and the Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (TPRM), Canada.

This active knowledge gaining event held for more than a decade is one and only of its kind, said Dr Fukuda, a co-host of the event from NCGM, Tokyo, Japan. Nobel Laureate Prof. Masatoshi Koshiba has kindly consented to grace the Fujio Cup Trophy award ceremony.

Plenary lectures will be delivered by Prof. Jurgen Hescheler, Head, Neurophysiology, Univ. of Cologne, Germany on “Pluripotent Stem Cells for Basic Research and Later Clinical Application”, by Prof. Gary Levy, Professor, Dept. of Medicine, Immunology and Surgery, Univ. of Toronto, Canada on  “Use of autologous stem cells to restore tolerance in allo and auto immune disease” and by  Prof. Takahiro Ochiya, Head, Molecular & Cellular Medicine, National Cancer Centre, Tokyo, Japan on “Chemically induced liver progenitors (CLiPS); A small molecule triggered bipotency and its potentials.”

The active knowledge gaining participants will be taken on an exclusive tour to premier institutes such as the Tokyo Women's Medical University - Waseda University Joint Institution for Advanced Biomedical Sciences (TWIns) where they will get to interact with experts working on cutting edge Regenerative Medicine applications and join a novel Interdisciplinary Conclave (IDC) in which scholars from outside the healthcare domain will present their work on original medical application technologies to be conducted in the Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), Tokyo, Japan.
