An eventful year of NCRM was commemorated with a series of events starting with the Fujio Cup Quiz on Stem Cells and Regenerative medicine

 

The inaugural address was given by Dr. Yukio Nakamura, (Riken-Bio Resource Centre, Tsukuba, Japan) and Fourth Anniversary News Bulletin "Cell-e'-bration" (Vol:4) was released by Prof. Shripad Banavali, (Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai)

The Deputy Consul General of Japan at Chennai Mr. Takayuki Kitagawa lauded the Indo-Japan collaborative efforts in this evolving field of stem cells by NCRM and its Japanese collaborators and distributed the prizes to winners of the Fujio Cup Quiz, an all India quiz competition on stem cells conducted for the 4th time consecutively named after the renowned Japanese physician Dr Fujio Takayama. The first prize and the prestigious ever-rotating Fujio cup went to the team from Manipal Institute of Regenerative Medicine, Bangalore..

In the beginning the annual report was presented by Dr Abraham. The winners of the events were presented by Ms. Pavithra Shivakumar.

The event concluded with the national anthems of both Japan and India.

Fourth Anniversary function was graced by the presence of the deputy consul general of Japan at Chennai Mr. Takayuki Kitagawa as the Chief guest (4th from Right), Dr. D. Prasada Rao, (Director, Nizam's Institute, Hyderabad)(1st from the right), Dr. Riyuji Hata, (Ehime University-Faculty of Medicine, Japan)(2nd from the right), Dr. Yukio Nakamura, (Riken-Bio Resource Centre, Tsukuba, Japan)(3rd from the right), Dr. P. Thangaraju, (Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, TANUVAS, Chennai)(4th from the left), Mr. A.Yogeswaran,(Director, NiSCELL, Malaysia)(2nd from the left) and Mr. Dhanabalan (Director, Vision Tec, Malaysia) (1st from left) were the guests of honour. Dr. Samuel Abhraham, (Director, Nichi-In Centre for Regenerative Medicine) (3rd from left) also seen.

*"Nichi" stands for Japan and "In" stands for India. This institute started on an Indo-Japan collaboration now has spreaded further with global alliances
